Hey there!
Well, I've had a really good "Guitar Weekend" - which means I've actually managed to play some and record something without getting bogged down with "normal" life
It's been sunny all weekend, until today - the rain and the emotions it brought with it came as quite a shock, but it put me in a creative mood as I watched our cat sitting by the window looking outside. It's sad you see, as our cat can't go outside - and we get the vibe that she really wants to. Cat's are supposed to go outside aren't they! Chasin birds, climbing up fences, protecting their territory. So I think I felt really sorry for her, and wrote this melancholy song "The Cat By The Window" - You can even hear her purring all the way through it.
The only problem with this track is the noise!!! I just worked out where it came from though, the mixer output cables were lying on a power extension lead, it causes a lot of interference...unfortunately I only just found this out!!! Well, I'm still learning - so this is cool
Hope you like my new track, it's very chilled, but also sad.
See ya!

Hi there!
So like I said last time I've been working on a cover of Hurt for a week or two. I've had it in my mind to do it for a couple of months as I love the song and I've never been happy with the version I recorded last year (although my sister's vocals were fantastic!).
As I've recorded it I've learned a few things I should and shouldn't do next time, like writing down the guitar, amp, pedal and mixer settings on each part so if i wanna record something I can actually get some consistency!!! So I have lots of plans on how I'm gonna do things next time to really try and get a great recording. I've also tried some different things with this cover - there's lots of layering of guitars, a little sampling and I even played a record backwards to get the outro.
Is it any good? Well, I like it but I can also see the (many) flaws - and if I can you'll probably be able to as a seasoned Dmusicer (is that a word?). Take it for what it is, a guy trying to learn the techniques of recording. Maybe you could listen to some of my older stuff to see where I've come from

Anyway, it should be up on my page by the weekend.
Oh yeah, we got this little black cat yesterday (we're fostering her) and she seems to like Mojosnakes music, she sort of has this hi pitch "kakakaka" that she does to it, then she starts purring (she's also a fan of Mizxoncevd).
On that note, I bid thee farewell.

So I've bought this new mixer, it's amazing! I'm lovin messin with it and all weekend I've been recording a cover of a cover...that is to say I'm recording a cover of Hurt using the verse chord structure of the Johnny Cash cover and the lyrics and feel of the NIN original. It's sounding really cool, and I'm very excited as I've learned a whole new load of stuff doing it!
Anyway, today (Sunday) as I was recording some of the last bits for Hurt I had a little break and came up with "Wemdu" - It's a fun little song about, well it's pretty obvous when you hear it.
Have a listen and see what you think anyway - this was all recorded in half an hour, it's all completely improvised and most of the recording time was taken getting the vocals in the right place.
Enjoy!
